Mysuru: It is a well-known fact not all prisoners in jails are criminals. There could be cases of innocent individuals having got into trouble by conspiracies of circumstances or evil-minded persons.
Efforts are often made to reform them by training them to nurture their talents and skills. Their acting and singing talents are showcased at well-organized programmes, although this does not happen in every jail. Products prepared by the inmates of the Mysuru central jail are put on sale in a special stall through the Parivartana scheme.
It was a special occasion for the inmates on Friday, when state home minister Dr G Parameshwar paid his maiden visit. Their Parivartana band welcomed the minister with the song ‘KarunaDa taayi sadaa chinmayi’.
The minister was so impressed with their talent that he joined the singers at the mike and added his voice to the group. The singers appeared to have been touched by the gesture.
Former IPS officer and CM’s security adviser Kempaiah, ADGP prisons Kamal Pant and the jail staff were taken by surprise, yet admired the minister’s hidden talent as a singer.
