Mysuru: Nehakumari (22), a software engineer employed by Infosys and who was on training here, drowned at Bharachukki falls in Shivanasamudra near Kollegal in Chamarajanagar district on Sunday evening.
As it was a two-day weekend for them, she had gone with five other friends to spend their evening on Sunday.
They were yet to get into water, according to others. Nehakumari is said to have suddenly slipped and drowned at a spot called Gavigundi.
Others called for help but there was no one coming forward to take any risk.
The police from Kollegal rural station were informed. Led by sub inspector Mohit Sahadev, a team arrived with some diving experts.
She could not be traced until last reports were received late in the night on Sunday.
