Nadoja Dr G Shankar Distributes Rs 78 Lakhs Medical Aid to Cancer and Kidney Patients at KMC

Mangaluru: Nadoja Dr G Shankar celebrated his birthday by distributing medical aid to the Cancer and Kidney patients at KMC Hospital Attavar here on October 4.

The programme was inaugurated by Nadoja Dr G Shankar by lighting the traditional lamp.

Addressing the gathering Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr Surendra said, “I am extremely happy to be associated with such an important function. This is a normal programme which is sponsored by Nadoja Dr G Shankar. In 1953 Dr T M A Pai started the first ever medical college in the private sector with an intention of providing medical service to the people of South Canara. After graduation, he started his practice but was not happy. All the time he was thinking of serving the society. He felt, being a doctor he should provide medical support to the people to improve their health. He started the medical college first so that he could have a lot of doctors to would serve the society. After T M A Pai his son continued the service to the society. Ramadas Pai started many schemes and one of the innovative schemes that is getting popular every year is the Manipal Arogya Card scheme for which more than 4 lakh people have registered.”

He further said, “Nadoja Dr G Shakar has the same thinking that of Dr T M A Pai, God has blessed him to support the needy. Till 2016 he was concentrating on helping the people of Udupi and from 2016 he started to help the people of DK. He has distributed medical cards to more than 40,000 families. I wish him a healthy, happy and a long life to serve the poor and the downtrodden.”

Addressing the gathering Dean Dr M V Prabhu said, “Swami Vivekananda said, “Those who live for others they live forever, the rest are more dead than alive. Dr G Shankar is spending a significant amount of his wealth for the health of others. It is a good gesture from Nadoja Dr G Shankar. I have seen many rich people, they deposit the money in Swiss banks or spend very lavishly. But Dr G Shankar is celebrating his birthday by donating the money for the welfare of the poor people. Today the government is talking about CSR of corporate companies. I would like to thank Nadoja Dr G Shankar for his yeomen service towards the poor and the downtrodden by providing them medical aid. May God Bless him and keep him Healthy so that society benefits through such generous people.”

Addressing the gathering Nadoja Dr G Shankar said, “From the past three years, I celebrate my birthday in a special way and want to continue it throughout my life. Dr G Shankar trust is giving importance to education and health in Udupi and DK districts. Today we are distributing medical aid to cancer and Kidney patients, nearly 1000 patients will get medical aid worth Rs 2 crore. Doctors all over the world are unable to find a cure for cancer. I feel sad to see the children suffer from cancer. Many people suffer from various diseases, some cancer patients lose hope but I request the patients to be courageous, we are all there with you to support you. With good treatment cancer can be cured, family members should also support cancer patients. I will speak to Dr Ballal to provide health cards through the G Shankar family so that patients will be benefitted. Many people come to the Manipal hospital but now people come to Attavar KMC. The Middle-class will get good treatment in this hospital. From the past five years, KMC Attavar has improved a lot and is providing good service, the other corporate hospital is a bit expensive for the middle-class patients. I urge the KMC management to provide good medical support to the marginalized people.”.

Dr Harsha Prasad also spoke on the occasion. KMC Hospital Attavar felicitated Dr G Shankar with a shawl, garland, and fruits. Cheques worth Rs 78 lakhs were distributed to 386 patients by Nadoja Dr G Shankar on the occasion.
