Nalin Kateel Makes Significant Headway, Mithun Rai Trailing by 2 Lakh Votes
Mangaluru: Early trends in the Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha constituency show sitting BJP MP Nalin Kumar Kateel leading the polls by a margin of more than 2 Lakh votes as of 2:00 PM on May 23.
On the other hand, Congress party candidate Mithun Rai is well-behind Kateel in what was regarded as a fiercely close electoral contest.
Even though the counting of votes is still underway at NITK Engineering College in Suratkal and the final vote count is subject to change, Nalin Kateel is closer to securing an electoral victory owing to the substantial difference of more than 2 Lakh votes. Exit polls predicted the BJP party securing 17-23 seats in the state of Karnataka.
