Udupi: Nalini Pradeep Rao Neelavara Taluk Panchayat and Rajendra Pandubettu of Moodanidambooru of the Bharatiya Janata Party were unanimously elected president and vice-president respectively of Udupi Taluk Panchayat on Friday, May 6.
The president post was reserved for the General category Women and the vice president post was reserved for the general category. Ashwathi Assistant commissioner Kundapur conducted the election process. In the 41 member Taluk Panchayat BJP has 27 members and congress has 14.
As the congress did not field any candidate, the electoral process got over with a unanimously electing both the candidates. Nalini Pradeep has studied till PU and is a housewife. She had contested for the Taluk Panchayat for the first time and was elected as president of TP. Earlier she was the gram panchayat member of Neelavara. She said that providing drinking water was her top priority.
The 52-year-old vice president Rajendra is an electrician by profession. He has also studied till PUC and has been running his own Electrical shop.
BJP district President Thingale Vikramarjuna Hegde, former MLA Raghupati Bhat, BJP leader Kuthyaru Naveen Shetty, Raghavendra Kini, Gitanjali Suvarna and others were congratulated the new president and vice president.
