Chittagong (Bangladesh), Jan 29 (IANS) Namibia recorded their first win at the Under-19 cricket World Cup when they beat Scotland by nine wickets here on Friday.

Namibia bowled Scotland out for 159 runs in 36.3 overs. Then their top-order batsmen completed the chase in 26 overs with nine wickets in hand, reports Xinhua.

The Scottish team won the toss and opted to bat, but Namibia bowlers kept them in check, as Michael van Lingen picked up three of the Scottish wickets and the other Namibia bowlers picked up two wickets apiece.

Namibia showed no mercy towards Scotland when they entered the crease, as they easily surpassed Scotland’s total and reached 162 runs after 26 overs and in the process lost only one wicket.

Namibia’s S.J. Loftie-Eaton ensured that the runs kept ticking on the scoreboard as he blasted home 67 runs (not out), which resulted in him being crowned the Man of the Match.

Namibia will next take on defending champions South Africa here on Sunday.
