Narayana Guru’s Teachings Very Much Relevant Today: Pramod Madhwaraj
Udupi: The principles and teachings of Sri Narayana Guru, who propagated a single caste, religion and God for all people on the earth, is of much relevance in the present social scenario, said Pramod Madhwaraj.
He was speaking after inaugurating the district-level Narayana Guru Jayanthi organised by the District administration, zilla panchayat and Kannada and Culture department at the Narayana Guru Hall Bannaje here on September 16.
Narayana Guru had spent his entire life fighting against oppression and exploitation of the downtrodden and untouchables in the name of religion and caste. Narayana Guru, who was a great thinker and philosopher, was instrumental in bringing about a revolution in Kerala State which has had a cascading effect all over the country. It was he who mainly paved the way for the social, economic, educational and spiritual uplift of the downtrodden and the oppressed sections of society.
People should follow the path of simplicity taught by Sri Narayana Guru. Communal conflicts and rifts in society can be avoided by following the teachings of the Guru, he added.
Janardhan Tonse president of the celebration committee said that an appeal has been made to the Minister to include lessons on Narayana Guru in the high school syllabus.
Dinakar Babdu (president Zilla panchayat), Meenakshi Madhava (President CMC), Nalini Pradeep (President TP), Venkatesh (Deputy Commissioner), Anuradha (ADC), Priyanka Mary Francis (CEO ZP) and others were present.
