Narendra Modi has Failed to Fulfill Poll Promises – B K Hariprasad

Udupi: “Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by Prime minister Narendra Modi has miserably failed to fulfill the promises made four years ago”, said All India Congress General Secretary B K Hariprasad.

Speaking at a press meet held at the District Congress Bhavan Udupi on May 8, B K Hariprasad said that there is a vast difference between the Siddaramaiah led State Congress government and the Modi led BJP government at the Centre. If the state government has fulfilled its election promises in the last five years, the Modi government has failed in this regard.

“Before the elections, everyone from the BJP was promising that the black money in foreign banks would be brought back within 100 days and Rs 15 lakh would be deposited in everyone’s bank account. Nothing has been done so far,” he said.

Prime Minister Modi is under the illusion that his party will humble the Congress. However, his magic wand will not work in the State. Cases have been filed against Amit Shah in the past and he speaks about law and order situation in Karnataka. The Gujarat model of development will not work out in Karnataka and the people here are more sensible in electing their representatives, he said.

Taking serious exception to the saffron party’s allegations that many Hindu leaders were killed in Karnataka during the Congress regime, Hariprasad said that the Hindutva agenda will not help BJP in the state. BJP leaders should look at the states governed by them – Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh – before talking about Congress-ruled Karnataka.

BJP leaders have charged that the law and order situation in the state had collapsed. “Let them see what is happening in the BJP led states. In Uttar Pradesh, within a year after Yogi Adityanath took over, there were over 1,000 fake encounters. Over 38 innocent people have been killed,” Hariprasad stressed.

“The BJP national president Amit Shah spoke about the 24 murders in the state. He could never find the culprit behind former Gujarat minister Haren Pandya’s murder and was exiled from Gujarat over fake encounters. Shah is silent on RTI activist Vinayak Baliga’s murder”, he added.

District Congress president Janardhan Tonse, KPCC secretary Naveen D’Souza, AICC observed Dominic P, Kishan Hegde, Dinesh Putran, Bhaskar Rao Kidiyoor and others were present.
