Kolkata, March 5 (IANS) Singer Himesh Reshammiya says cinema veterans Naseeruddin Shah and Shekhar Kapur, who star alongside him in “Teraa Surroor”, shed their superstar image once they face the camera.
“They forget they are superstars. They just get into their characters. They have inspired me to do the same,” Himesh told media persns here on Saturday.
Directed by Shawn Arranha, the thriller “Teraa Surroor” also features debutant Farah Karimaee, actor Kabir Bedi and singer-actor Monica Dogra in prominent roles.
It’s the sequel to the 2007 film “Aap Kaa Surroor”.
Himesh, who has churned out popular songs like “Aashiq banaya aapne” and “Tera suroor”, has been criticised for being a nasal singer.
However, he said that the criticism turned out to be a “blessing in disguise”.
“Earlier I used to feel bad. The media dubbed me as a nasal singer. But it turned out to be a blessing in disguise,” he added.
‘Jai Gangaajal’ mints Rs.5.5 crore on opening day
Prakash Jha’s “Jai Gangaajal”, which stars actress Priyanka Chopra as a police officer, has collected Rs.5.5 crore pan-India on its opening day.
According to the makers of the film, “Jai Gangaajal”, which released on Friday, had a production cost of Rs.18 crore.
On the promotion front, the makers disclosed that a sum of Rs.7 crore was spent on the film’s promotion and advertising.
The film is a sequel of the 2003 crime film “Gangaajal”, and also features actors Manav Kaul, Rahul Bhat and Queen Harish with Jha himself appearing in a supporting role.
On Thursday, Jha held a special screening of “Jai Gangaajal” for some IPS officers, considering Priyanka’s IPS officer role in the film, while the actress promoted the film through Skype, with some publications.
The film was co-produced by Prakash Jha Productions and Play Entertainment.
