Nation-wide strike fails to evoke much response in Udupi District
Udupi: The nation-wide strike called by the Central Trade Unions against the anti labourer policies of the union government on Wednesday, January 8 has failed to evoke much response in Udupi district.
Normal life remained unaffected in the region. Vehicular movement is normal. No holiday has been declared for schools and colleges in the district.
Government offices, banks, educational institutes, business establishments, hospitals, functioned as usual. Autorickshaws also operated as usual. The police have strengthened security across the district to avoid any untoward incidents during the strike.
Activists of various trade unions took out a protest rally from the Board High School passing through Triveni Circle, KM Marg, Diana Circle, Court Road, Big Bazar, and culminated at the War memorial at Ajjarkad.
