National Youth Convention Cross arrives to Udupi Diocese
Udupi: The National Youth Convention NYC Cross was received in the Udupi Diocese from Beltangady Diocese on Sunday, November 27.
Having travelled in different Dioceses the Cross arrived in the Udupi Diocese. The Udupi Diocese Youth Director Fr Edwin D’Souza, Karkala Deanery Youth Director Fr Sunil, ICYM Diocese president Loyal D’Souza, Secretary Felina D’Souza, Regional Youth Representative Valida Mendonca, Animator Walter D’Souza, Sr Hilda Mascarenhas and Diocese Youth Representatives received the Cross from the Beltangady Diocese Bishop Dr Lawrence Mukkuzhy at the St Lawrence Cathedral Beltangady.
Diocese Vicar General Fr George, Cathedral In-charge Fr Binay, Diocese Youth Director Fr Shibi Thomas, number of priests, nuns and youth were also present during the Cross handover ceremony.
The NYC Cross was later carried with great respect to the Udupi Diocese border St Dominic’s Church Miyar where a prayer service was held. Along with the Parish priest, the Parish youth, Diocesan office bearers and a large number of Lay faithful witnessed the NYC Cross receiving ceremony.
The Cross will travel to various churches of the Udupi Diocese Namely, Miyar (November 27-28), Karkala Town (November 29), Belman (November 30), Shirva (December 1), Pangla (December 2), Kalmadi (December 3), Moodubelle (December 4), Udupi (December 5), Kundapur (December 6), Trasi (December 7), Sasthan (December 8), Barkur (December 9) Mount Rosary Santhekatte (December 10). On December 11 the NYC Cross will be taken on a procession to Milagres Cathedral Kallinapur. Udupi Diocese Bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo will offer the Eucharistic celebration and thereafter the NYC Cross will be handed over to the Mangaluru Diocese.
In view of the national youth convention scheduled to be celebrated on 18th to 22nd of Jan 2017, St the St Joseph’s engineering collage campus, Mangaluru, the Cross has been travelling in different Dioceses of Karnataka.
