NDA Govt has Delivered Corruption Free Governance in Four Years – Shobha Karandlaje

Mangaluru: “The NDA government led by PM Modi has completed four years in the centre and is stepping towards the fifth year. In four years, the government has given transparent governance without corruption. During the last elections, we had given importance to three issues – the corruption by the UPA government that ruled the country for 10 years, lack of respect for Indians internationally [while Modi was the CM of Gujarat he was denied visa to the US] and the safety of our soldiers on the borders. After the BJP came to power in the centre, Modi promised to provide a corruption-free governance which we have fulfilled,” said MP Shobha Karandlaje at a press meet held at the BJP office here, on June 5.

Addressing the mediapersons, Shobha Karandlaje said, “From the past four years, the NDA government led by PM Modi has concentrated on all-round development; be it infrastructure, implementation of various schemes and stability of the economy. When the UPA government was in power, Indians were not respected in other countries but now America and Russia are giving a red carpet welcome to Modi. The respect that Modi is getting is respect for our country and its citizens from other countries.”

Karandlaje further said, “When the UPA was in power, inflation was high and the GDP was low. But after Modi came to power, the GDP has increased to 7.7%. When there was demonetization to control the black money, the opposition started to criticize the move but now the economy is stable. After the demonetization, there is control over the drug mafia and smuggling of illegal weapons. We have also implemented GST to make one nation-one tax system.”

When asked why petrol and diesel have not been included under the GST, Karandlaje replied, “We will soon include Petrol and Diesel under the GST.”

When asked why Ganga had not yet been cleaned, Karandlaje said that cleaning Ganga is a huge programme that would take time due to the extent of pollution. “The Clean Ganga project will go on and the prime minister has taken this project very seriously,” she added.

Speaking on the suspicious death of cattle trader Husainabba, Karandlaje said that “the Congress and JD(S) government is targeting BJP workers in this case and the police have arrested the innocent. Our party workers did not attack Husainabba. Instead when the cattle were being transported in a Scorpio, the party workers had informed the police and handed over Husainabba to the police. After 15 to 20 minutes Husainabba had died in the police jeep when the police were taking him to the station. Had he died due to heart attack or did he have any health issues? The police should investigate. We must wait for the forensic report which should be released to the public.”

Karandlaje also said that the SP of Udupi had “informed me about the death that had occurred in the police jeep. Our party workers had only informed the police about the illegal cattle trafficking. During the incident, three more persons were also in the Scorpio but when they saw the police, they fled from the vehicle and Husainabba was caught. While the accused were reversing the Scorpio and trying to escape the vehicle had hit a tree. During our meetings, we had decided to inform the police of such cases and our members are following it. Our members have said that the police are the cause of Husainabba’s death.”

When asked whether she had spoken to the accused about the incident, Karandlaje said, “I did not speak to the accused but I have spoken to many people regarding this incident and gathered the necessary information. I am not telling any story here. What I have said is a fact.”

Former District BJP president Pratap Simha, Capt Brijesh, Uday Kumar, Kishore Rai, Prabha Malini, Premanand Shetty and others were also present.
