Necessary to Start Helpline to Assist Kannadigas in Mumbai – Kota Srinivas Poojary

Mangaluru: “Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, people all over the world are suffering. People from Dakshina Kannada who are residing in other states especially Mumbai are now facing a lot of problems. For the welfare of the Kannadigas, I have requested the Chief Minister as well as the chief secretary to provide safety, security, and food. Kannadigas should be provided basic facilities, I have requested the Chief Minister and the chief secretary to start a helpline to help them”, said the district minister in-charge Kota Srinivas Poojary in a video message here on April 22.

“In DK district Asha workers and health officials visit every house and conduct health check-up. The home guards and staff from the Education Department also assist the Asha workers whenever necessary,” said Poojary.

Kota Srinivas further said, “Due to negligence, a 50-year-old woman in Bantwal died of COVID-19 and the whole area had to be sealed down. There are 603 houses within a 1 km radius from the deceased house and 22106 families live in a 5 km area. Asha workers will visit every house to check the health of the residents in the Bantwal area. The people of Bantwal should support the district administration by co-operating with the Asha workers and the health officers.”

“Our aim is to make Dakshina Kannada a Corona free District. Those who have symptoms of COVID-19 should not delay visiting the Fever clinics or those who visit the private hospitals should be sent to the COVID hospital. Medical assistance will be provided to pregnant women, elderly people, TB or HIV patients, and Asthama patients in the district. To strengthen the COVID hospital 10 doctors, 21 nurses, 5 lab technicians, and D group workers will be appointed”, said Kota Srinivas Poojary.
