Mangaluru: Drug menace is rampant in the city. Youth are involved in drug peddling which is a dangerous sign to society. Youth are the future of our country. If the future of the country indulges in drug peddling, what kind of future we can expect for our country? Due to the drug menace, the crime rate among the youth is also increasing. Parents should strictly monitor the activities of their children, their friends and surroundings.
The police have taken this issue of curbing drug menace in the city on top priority. The NDPS police are raiding various places and seizing the drugs. Many drug peddlers who supply Ganja, cocaine and MDM to Mangaluru from outside the state have been arrested.
In his press statement, police commissioner Sandeep Patil has stated, “During the drive to curb the drug menace, we have noticed the involvement of youngsters between the age of 18 to 24 years peddling and buying drugs. Even students from some reputed colleges are involved in drug peddling. To bring the drug menace completely under control, the police department needs the support of the parents as well as the school and college authorities.”
Sandeep Patil also mentioned that it is important to know how drugs look like, the colour and the type of drugs available. In Mangaluru, drug peddlers sell Ganja, cocaine and MDM which is white powder looking like salt and sugar powder. If any student finds such substance or is aware of anyone consuming it, they should inform the police or their respective school teachers.
