Negligence of Mortuary Staff, Wilson’s Body Decomposes at Yenepoya Hospital
Mangaluru: The body of 26-year-old Wilson who had died of electrocution decomposed at the YenepoY Hospital due to the negligence of the Mortuary staff on duty on October 27.
Wilson Fernandes had died of electrocution on October 25 at Kallapu.
Speaking to mangalorean.com one of the family members Joston said, “On October 25, Wilson Fernandes died of electrocution. As soon as the incident occurred at Kallapu we rushed Wilson to the Yenepoya hospital but he succumbed on the way. After the post-mortem, the body was kept in the mortuary of the same hospital. Today at 1:30 pm we came to the hospital to take the body home for the funeral rites.”
Joston further said, “When we went near the mortuary the area was full of house flies and stinking. There was no one from the hospital to listen to our plea. We then informed the police.”
Speaking to Mangalorean.com hospital sources said, “On October 25, Wilson’s body was kept in our mortuary. Due to the heavy rains, there was a short circuit and the compressor might have been damaged and the staff on duty failed to check the condition of the freezer. We came to know about this only when the family members complained. We have taken this matter seriously and action will be taken against those responsible. We never expected something like this would happen”.
Former minister U T Khader also visited the spot. The family members, relatives and friends of Wilson are now staging a protest in front of the hospital.
DCP Law and Order, Arunagshu Giri visited the spot and assured the family members of taking action against those responsible.
Police commissioner Dr Harsha has also assured of taking action based on the complaint of the family members.
