Nehru Yuva Kendra Holds ‘Fit India Shaksham Cycle Rally’
Mangaluru: Nehru Yuva Kendra Mangaluru in association with Bharat Scouts and Guides and Mangalore Cycling Club jointly organized a cycle Rally “Fit India Saksham” from Mangaluru City Corporation on January 18.
The Cycle rally was organized to create a healthy India. Assistant Commissioner Madan flagged off the cycle rally in front of MCC, Lalbagh at 6:30 am which culminated at the DC Office.
Speaking to mangalorean.com District Co-ordinator of Nehru Yuva Kendra Raghuveer Suterpet said, “According to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Fitness is zero percent investment with infinite returns”. PM Modi has urged citizens to give priority to fitness and get rid of ailments. According to PM Modi’s instructions the Sports ministry holds Fit India programmes throughout the country. Today we organized the Fit India Saksham Cycle Rally to encourage cycling for fitness and also the cyclists.”
Raghuveer further said, “Cyclists from 8 to 65 years old participated in the cycle rally. I was happy to see the enthusiasm in senior citizens to take part in the rally. The rally culminated in front of the DC office. Participation certificates were given to all the participants. In future, we will hold more such rallies to promote fitness through cycling.”
The rally which was flagged off in front of the MCC, Lalbagh passed through PVS – Hampankatta signal – RTO and culminated in front of the DC office.
The president of Mangalore Cycling Club Anil Shet speaking to mangalorean.com said, “Last week Raghuveer contacted me for organizing a Cycling rally and I wholeheartedly agreed to join hands with the Nehru Yuva Kendra. There were about 100 cyclists who participated in the rally. Many doctors from Fr Mullers and A J Hospitals were interested to join the rally but did not have the bicycles, they are planning to take part in such rallies in future. It is interesting and helpful to have such events often to promote fitness and cycling.”
Representatives from Nehru Yuva Kendra Vikas, Sushmitha and Prethesh were also present.
