New Taxiway at MIA to Reduce Occupancy and Waiting Time for Flights

Mangaluru: Part Parallel Taxi track -Phase-I has been commissioned today afternoon i.e on 06 March 2017.

Air India Al 680, Mangaluru-Mumbai flight is the first flight to use the newly built taxiway. A water cannon salute was provided to aircraft before, entering the new taxiway by AAI Fire engines. Runway occupancy time and waiting time of apron will be reduced considerably for the flights with this new taxi track.

For this taxiway Phase-I nearly about 30 meters of the valley filling work was involved and the taxiway built was totally concrete. This project took around 1.5 years to complete and has finally been commissioned after the DGCA approval.
