NMPT Saves Life of Ukrainian Ship crew Sergiy Nalyvayko
Mangaluru: New Mangalore Port authorities received a “Distress message/ medical assistance require” through email from Master of MT FLAGSHIP ORCHID on May 6, at 2010 hrs which was en route to Sikka and coming from Singapore. According to the Master, there was a medical emergency for a Ukrainian crew member Sergiy Nalyvayko, aged 40 years, who suffered a stroke and couldn’t use the left part of the body. Master also informed that the ship would reach New Mangalore Port limit after midnight.
New Mangalore Port authorities promptly responded to the distress call and arranged Port tug for medical evacuation. The patient was successfully evacuated using Port Tug at 0035 hrs on 07 May 2017 and hospitalised at A J Hospital, Mangalore through their steamer agent. The patient is under observation, however, the condition is presently stable.
