No Holiday for Banks on Kanaka Jayanti on Nov 17 – CM Siddaramaiah

Bengaluru: In response to the media reports of the public facing problems due to the demonetization of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 denomination notes, the government has cancelled the holiday, which was declared for Kanaka Jayanti on November 17, under the negotiable instruments act, 1881 for all scheduled and commercial banks in the state.

The government has asked the banks to work to ease pressure from the demonetisation of higher denomination currency notes and help the public according to the order of the state government led by Chief minister Siddaramaiah.

On November 17, all banks will be opened. Earlier the government had announced holiday on November 17, after the order from the CM, the banks will be opened as usual to assist the customers.
