‘Not CID, We Demand CBI Probe into Mangaluru Violence’- Welfare Party of India

Mangaluru: Addressing the media persons during a press meet held at Mangaluru Press Club, Tahir Hussain- Welfare Party of India State Unit President said, “Mangaluru City Police Commissioner is directly responsible for the death of two innocent persons, who were not involved in the protest, and therefore the Police Commissioner should be dismissed. We also urge the government to provide Rs 25 lakh compensation and government jobs to the immediate family members of the two victims who died during the police shootout in the City recently”.

“When there were similar protests against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC) in other major cities where the police didn’t impose Section 144 or Curfew, what was the need to impose Section 144 and Curfew here in Mangaluru, which resulted into violence, two deaths and many injured, and also nearly Rs 1000 crore in losses. We demand CBI probe and not CID investigation into the City violence that erupted recently. The police authorities are fully responsible for all this. The CAA is against Articles 14, 15, and 21 of the Indian Constitution, and therefore protests against the same will continue” added Hussain.

Welfare Party of India district unit president Sulaiman Kallarpe, State unit vice president Shrikanth Salian, Mangaluru Zonal president Muttalib and District general secretary Sarfaraz were present on the dais during the press meet.
