‘Not Just ‘Inflation’, the Nation is in ‘Deflation’ under Modi Government. Narendra Modi is a Prime Minister of events and words, and not of performance ‘-Veerappa Moily

Mangaluru: Prior to addressing the media persons during a press conference, Former CM of Karnataka and former union minister and senior Congress leader M Veerappa Moily also addressed the Congress party members at the Congress party District Office at Mallikatta, Mangaluru. Speaking to the media persons Moily said, ” Congress has completed 90 percent process of organizing and restructuring of the party in the state as well in the district and by one week the whole process will be complete. Now is the time to unite ourselves, without any fighting within the party. If we all work together, in the next assembly elections we will bring Congress to power again”.

Lashing out at Modi government, Moily said, ” Modi-led government in the centre has fallen in GDP growth to a 3-year low of 5.7% and what former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh’s has said about demonetization that it would be a disaster has come true.The present union government has utterly failed in every sector, be it defense, economy, or GDP growth which has deflated. Not just inflation, our country is heading into deflation under the BJP government. Naxal activities and border clashes are still continuing. Since demonetization, the quarterly GDP growth has come down drastically and people have still not recovered from that surgical strike on the economy. GDP ratio has never come down below 7%, but after the revised methodology of GDP growth, it is found that we are at 5.7%. If the methodology had not been revised, then the GDP would have been as low as 3.5%.”

“In the entire state, after September 10, Congress party workers will reach out to the voters promoting the developmental works of the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government in the past four years by distributing the handouts. Congress government has excelled in sectors like economy, industry, investments and manufacturing in the entire country. The government has successfully implemented pro-people programmes favouring all sections of people in the society. Hence due to pro-people’s programmes, Congress has remained in the hearts of the people. People will still support us, and in the next assembly elections people will bring Congress to power.’ added Veerappa Moily.

Speaking further and slamming Narendra Modi, he said, ” PM Modi is a man of events and words but no performance, including his government. Instead of reshuffling in the Cabinet, the PM position should be shuffled. Modi’s demonetization is an utter disaster, and this economic disaster has made way for unemployment, the collapse of small scale industries and unorganized sectors. If there was a sensitive PM like Rajiv Gandhi during such economic crisis, he would have resigned from the position.

Also speaking to the media persons, Moily said that Lady Goschen Hospital new building will be inaugurated in November 2017. “This is a joint project of the state government and ONGC-MRPL. Rs 21 crore was sanctioned for this project and work has been completed. Now MRPL has sanctioned Rs 1.1 crore for the purpose of purchasing equipment. The hospital has a vast history of 175 years, and this is one of the most important of its projects. The old building was in a pathetic condition and there was no proper equipment. But with the support of MRPL and ONGC, we have constructed this new building, and it is set to be inaugurated in the month of November.”
