Novena’s for St Lawrence Feast begins at Bondel Church
Mangaluru: To mark the Annual feast of St Lawrence, Nine-day novena’s have been held from August 1. The first-day Novena began with the Eucharistic celebrations at the Bondel Church.
The theme of the first-day Novena was “Word of God -the foundation of family”. The Eucharistic mass was celebrated by Fr Ronald Serrao, breaking the word of God,
In his homily, Fr Ronald Serrao said, “In this modern world family bonding has eroded. People are busy with their work and they do not get time for the family prayer. There is a need for our families to be built on the foundation of the Word of God”.
Fr Ronald further said, “St Lawrence lived his life according to the Word of God, he left everything to serve the poor, and died for Christ because St Lawrence believed in the word of God and there was a strong foundation. We need to follow in the footsteps of St Lawrence as he served the society and built the foundation of families on the word of God. We need to live according to the ideals of the Holy Family.”
District Minister In-charge B Ramanath Rai and Mayor Kavitha Sanil visited St Lawrence Church and wished the devotees a very happy feast of their Patron.
The mass was concelebrated by Fr Vinod Lobo and Dn Ashwin Aranha. The choir was led by Paldane Church Choir.
