The 17th series of Nrityaantaranga by the artistes of Sri Mookambika Cultural Academy-Puttur
The dance series ‘Nrityaantaranga’ which is conducted by Sri Mookambika Cultural Academy(R.) of Puttur observed its 17th series in the Academy’s Hall ‘Shashi-Shankara’ in Darbe, Puttur. The event was performed by the senior students of the academy viz., Prajna, Swathi, Ashitha, Sai Sreepadma and Apoorva Gowri. The evening was inaugurated by Dr. Sreesha Kumar, Sanskrit Lecturer of Vivekananda College, Puttur.
In his speech Dr. Kumar referred to many mythological events related to dance especially the Thandava dance performed by Lord Shiva. He also referred to Panini’s Sutra and different scriptures including Natya Shastra of Bharata Muni in relation to dance. Miss Soujanya did the compering. Sri Lakshmi did the invocation prayer and Vidyashri introduced the artistes to the audience. During this occasion Anusha, one student of the Academy gave a lecture demonstration on the topic ‘Shabda Nrityabandha’.
On the music part Vidwan Deepak Kumar did natuvangam, Vidushi Preethikala on Vocal and Sri Sham Bhat Sullia played Mridangam and supported the performance.
Apoorva Gowri, Swathi, Prajna, Ashita and Sai Shreepadma performed Ganesha sthuthi, Jathiswara, Shabda, Padam, Javali and Thillana. These 5 young aspiring artistes passed Senior Grade examination conducted by Karnataka Secondary Education Board and are currently studying for Vidwat.
They have performed in and around Puttur and some occasions like Alvas Nudisiri, Mudabidre and have participated in the dance ballet Kolluru Sri Mookambika which has been the master choreography of the Institution.
