NYC Cross arrives at Fatima Church Perampalli
Udupi: In view of the national youth convention scheduled to be celebrated on 18th to 22rd Jan 2017, at St Joseph’s engineering college campus, Mangaluru, the NYC Cross is being taken to different parishes of the Udupi Diocese.
Having taken to different Parishes the Cross arrived at Our Lady of Fatima Church Perampalli from the Mother of Sorrows Church Udupi on December 5 and handed over by Fr Fred Mascarenhas, parish priest of Udupi Church.
Fr Romeo Lewis, the parish priest of Perampalli Church, brought the Cross to Our Lady of Fathima Church, Perampalli, in a procession. The parishioners welcomed the cross by offering flowers. Later, Fr Romeo Lewis offered prayers to the Holy cross and explained the journey and importance of the NYC cross to the gathering. Thereafter, Taize prayer was held for all the gathered which was conducted by Norbert Misquith. At the end, everyone gathered was given a chance to get a close glimpse of the cross and receive blessings.
Fr Romeo Lewis, Denis Furtado, Vice president of Parish Council Perampalli, Ronak Olivera and President of ICYM Perampalli along with the Parish youth, Diocesan office bearers and a large number of Lay faithful witnessed the Ceremony.
On 6 December, the cross will remain in Perampalli parish and there will Adoration held from 6:00 am to 3:00 pm. Thereafter, the mass will be held in respect to the Cross. After all the ceremonial celebrations, the cross will be handed over to the Kundapur deanery.
