October 24 World Polio Day Observed

  • Car Rally Organized in the City to Create Awareness ‘End Polio’ held

Mangaluru: “World Polio Day” serves as a reminder of the significance of immunization and continued commitment to the world by Rotary International wherein no child should be infected with this deadly crippling disease. It is an opportunity to celebrate the success achieved in the eradication of polio in the world” opined Rotary past district Governor Rtn. Dr Devdas Rai was addressing the Rotarians after flagging off the “End Polio” motor car rally in the city organized by R.I. Dist. 3181 authority on 24 October 2023.

About 50 motor cars started from the Mahaveer circle to raise awareness of and importance of Polio Vaccination to the children and the commitment of Rotary to complete eradication of polio by protecting the children from this paralyzing disease.

The rally moved from Mahaveer Circle, Kankanday, Valencia, Jappu, Mangaladevi, Pandeshwar, Hampankatta, K.S. Rao Road, Kodialbail, P.V. Circle, M.G. Road, Lalbagh and culminated at Rotary Balbhavan, Gandhinagar where stage program was held. Rotary Past Dist. Governor Rtn. Krishna Shetty presided over the function and appealed to all 14 club members to continue to organize this event every year. Rotary Past Dist. Governor Rtn. Ranganath Bhat, Dist. Governor-Elect Rtn. Vikram Dutta, Assistant Governor Rtn. Smt. Shivani Baliga, Rtn. Vinod Kudva were present.

Assistant Governor Rtn. Subodh Kumar Das proposed the vote of thanks. Assistant Governor P.D. Shetty compered the program.
