Odisha seeks new express trains from Nayagarh town
Bhubaneswar, June 22 (IANS) Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday urged Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu to introduce new express trains from Nayagarh town.
In a letter to Prabhu, Patnaik requested for the introduction of one express train each to Howrah and Visakhapatnam from the town.
He also thanked the Railway Minister for commissioning of the Khurda-Balangir line up to Nayagarh district headquarters.
“With the commissioning of the new line up to Nayagarh headquarters, it is now important to provide the people here connectivity to the nearest large railway hubs,” said the Chief Minister.
Patnaik also suggested the extension of the Bhubaneswar-Howrah Garib Rath Express up to Nayagarh town and introducing an intercity type train to give the people of Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Boudh and Ganjam access to the state’s large coastal belt.
Patnaik also reminded Prabhu about earlier demands of re-commissioning of the Paralakhemundi and Kashinagar stations on the Nawapada-Gunupur railway line and early commencement of work on the state partnership projects of Jeypore-Malkangiri and Jeypore-Nabarangpur lines.
He also mentioned about the introduction of a new Bhubaneswar-Khurda-Mumbai train.
