Oman: In line with the initiative taken by the Muscat Mogaveers Koota, the newly formed Executive Committee of MM Koota, under the guidance of community doctors, viz. Dr Shekar Salian, Dr Ranjan, Dr Seema Ranjan and Dr Devdas Shriyan, organized a successful Blood Donation Drive on Saturday, 14th March 2015 at the MOH Blood Bank at Baushar, Sultanate of Oman with a noble gesture for a noble cause, “Blood donation – a gift of life to humanity”.
Although the recently formed Executive Committee had a preparation time of just a week, it was heartening that more than 65 enthusiastic donors participated in the session and finally 50 donors successfully donated blood. MM Koota’s Executive Committee was immensely pleased with the overwhelming response.
Blood Bank officials were highly appreciative of MM Koota’s efforts and thanked the organizers for the impeccable arrangements, the impressive turnout and all in all for a well co-ordinated blood donation drive.
The blood donation session started at 9 am in the gracious presence of MM Koota’s President Dr Shekar Salian, the Vice Presidents Prakash Naik and Ramanand Kunder, Advisors Shrinivasa Shriyan and Dr Ranjan, spearheaded by the Cultural Co-ordinator Sharat Kumar, Public Relations Co-ordinator Padmakar Mendon, Sports Co-ordinator Vishwanath Bangera, Fund Raising Co-ordinator Girish Kanchan and Treasurer Rajesh Salian along with other committee members.
MM Koota co-ordinators Aarti Ravi Kanchan and Sujatha Lokesh took care of the refreshments supported by Jyothi Shivaram Kanchan. It was like a family affair and all the member donors interacted and assisted each other for the smooth running of the session with utmost humility saying one slogan “Donate Blood and Save Life”.
Team MM Koota was truly humbled to witness such an impressive turnout in such a short time. It was indeed a proud moment and every team member rejoiced the achievement with a great sense of satisfaction and fulfillment remembering the quotes: “Tears of a mother cannot save her child, but your blood can”. “The Blood Donor of today may be recipient of tomorrow.”
It is also worthwhile noting that within a span of less than two months the newly formed MM Koota Committee successfully managed three events, i.e. (i) participation in Kudla Cup Tournament and emerging as winners in Men Cricket and Runners-up in Women Cricket (ii) organized an evening of fun filled family get-together attended by around 250 members, and (iii) Blood Donation Drive.
It is MM Koota’s endeavor to conduct such programmes in the coming days in the best interests of the community in particular and the society at large.
