Once in 6 Years, ‘Bharani Mahotsava’ at Kudroli Shree Kshetra

Mangaluru: Kudroli Shree Bhagavati Kshetra (KSBK) held a press meet at Kodialbail here, on March 11.

Addressing the mediapersons, Secretary Sudhir B said, “KSBK has a history of about 800 years. There are about 18 Bhagavathi Kshetra’s from Kasargod to Sasihithlu. We have 13 organisations at various gram levels, which constitute to about 10000 families. With the donations and offerings by these families, we undertook the restoration of this place in the year 2005 at a cost of Rs 2 crores. In the year 2009, we spent another 1.5 crores and completed the second phase of restoration.”

He further said, “Every six years, we take up a 9-day jathre called ‘Bharani Mahotsava’ and it will be held from March 18 to 26. On account of this, ‘Gonemuhuratha’ programme will be held on March 13 and a ‘Hore-Kanike’ procession will be held from Nehru Maidan to Shri Kshetra at 3:00 PM on March 16. Various cultural programmes will be held from March 18 to 26”

“Every Friday, we offer lunch to the devotees as ‘prasada’. About 1000 to 1500 devotees are served with this prasada every Friday. We have also taken up several social programmes like, distributing scholarships, blood donation camps, eye checkup camps and others. We needed a hall where the devotees could have their lunch and we built it at a cost of Rs 95 lakhs. We needed a community hall and we have built it at a cost of Rs 1.5 crores, which can accommodate 850 people. Sathyanand Thirtha Swamiji of Shivagiri Math in Kerala, will inaugurate it at 4:30 PM on March 18,” he said.

K Narayan, Prabhakar, Latha, Sujandas, Vishwaraj and others were also present.
