Update: One dies as bus overturns at Gudnupade near Shirva
According to the recent report by the police, one person was killed and 5 others were critically injured after the driver lost control over the speeding bus which overturned at Gundupade near Shirva.
The deceased has been identified as Sunil (21) of Arasikatte near Shankerpura. Sunil who was trapped inside the bus, which turned turtle breathed his last on the way to the hospital. Five other injured persons who were shifted to KMC hospital Manipal are said to be out of danger.
According to the passengers, the driver was driving the bus at a very high speed and lost control over it. The bus overturned when the driver suddenly applied hard brakes to avoid hitting another vehicle coming from the opposite direction. The locals had to break the window glass to bring out the injured passengers from the bus.

Udupi: Several passengers were injured when the bus in which they were travelling overturned at Gundupade, Pernal under the Shirva Police Station limits on Sunday, May 7.
According to sources, the accident took place when the bus, Chiranjeevi Motors carrying around 30 passengers who were returning from Belman to Shankerpura after attending a marriage function, at Gundupade the driver while trying to overtake another vehicle lost control and the bus overturned.
Three of the passengers sustained critical injuries and were shifted to a private hospital in Udupi. The other injured were shifted to local hospitals.
Shirva Police, Local gram Panchayat president David D’Souza and locals reached the spot and helped in the rescue operations and shifted the injured to the hospital.
