Online Fraudster Dupes Udupi Man Rs 1.37 Lakh
Udupi: An online fraudster lured a 56-year-old man in Udupi through the Social media and then duped him Rs. 1.37 lakhs. The victim has lodged a complaint in the Udupi Town Police Station.
According to the complaint, Sanjeev Suvarna a resident of Ambalapadi came in contact with the fraudster named Lisa Coal through the Social media in the month of September. She maintained contact with Sanjeeva Suvarna through the social media. She contacted him on September 13 and told that she had come to India and purchased some gold items. The customs officials were asking her to pay Rs 42,500/- for clearance. On September 14 she again contacted him and told him that she would have to pay Rs 75,000 to the Delhi High court for verification. Again the next day she asked for Rs. 20000/- for the cheque clearance. Sanjeev Suvarna deposited a total amount of Rs 1,37,500 three times through online transactions.
Thereafter the fraudster Lisa Coal stopped contacting with Sanjeev Suvarna. He discussed the issue with police, who told him that it was a case of cheating. So he filed a complaint in the Udupi Town Police station. Based on his complaint the police have registered the case.
