Opposing CAA is a Constitutional Blunder- Rajnath Singh during Jana Jagruti Samavesh

Mangaluru: The BJP organized an awareness programme on CAA and NRC, “Jana Jagruti Samavesh” at Goldfinch City, near Kulur here on January 27.

The programme began an invocation. District BJP president Sudarshan Moodbidri welcomed the gathering.

Addressing the sea of people at the Goldfinch City grounds Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said, “I have come to Mangaluru, but this is the first time I am addressing such a huge crowd. I would like to congratulate the organizers for their efforts in facilitating such a huge crowd for the Jana Jagrati Samavesh on CAA. Opposing CAA is a Constitutional Blunder. Mangaluru has played a major role in bringing BJP to power in Karnataka and made the whole country to talk about this city. In 2014 people of Mangaluru and Dakshina Kannada voted for the BJP and brought it to power, now in 2019 once again with your support the BJP has come to power in the state and the centre. I would like to wholeheartedly thank the people of Mangaluru”.

Rajnath Singh further said, “During the elections, we had released our party manifesto and in 2019 elections I was the in-charge to prepare the manifesto, whatever we had mentioned in the manifesto we are following it. In the 2019 manifesto, we had assured to revoke article 370 if we come to power, we came to power in the centre and we fulfilled our promise by scrapping article 370. The Triple talaq bill was also passed by the BJP government in the Parliament. We have assured to build the Ram Mandir in Ayodya and recently we got the verdict to construct the Ram Mandir in Ayodya. No power on earth can stop us from constructing the Ram Mandir in Ayodya. Now after the Citizens Amendment Bill became an act (CAA), the opposition is doing everything to create fear among the Muslims.”

Rajnath also said, “No single citizen of this country will be affected by the CAA. The Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) is an amended Citizenship Act of 1955 to make it easier for illegal immigrants belonging to the Hindu, Sikh, Jain, Buddhist, Parsi and Christian communities from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan to acquire Indian citizenship if they have left their parent countries to escape religious persecution. The Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) was drafted by our government in 2016 and was passed in the Lok Sabha in January 2019, now the new CAB has also been passed in both the Houses of Parliament in December 2019. In some states where the BJP is in power, the opposition protested against CAA. Through CAA no one in this country will suffer and if any Muslim in this country faces problems, BJP will stand with them.

Further briefing about the CAA Rajnath Singh said, “Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh are Muslim countries but India is a secular country and people from all walks of life live in peace. The opposition has spread rumours that if you don’t submit your documents you will be sent to the detention centre which is far from the truth. No Muslim will be affected by NRC. It is the duty of those who have come here to visit every house and bring awareness among the people about CAA and NRC. The Opposition experiences pain in the stomach when the ruling party does good work, you all are the treatment for their pain. We want to see India in the top 3 place by 2020”.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP Shobha Karandlaje, Minister Sadanand Gowda, District Minister In-charge Kota Srinivas Poojary and Sanjeev Matandoor also spoke on the occasion.

BJP is dishonestly invoking the name of Gandhi to justify CAA. Rajmohan Gandhi riposte to the BJP is “CAA doesn’t carry out Mahatma Gandhi’s wishes, it brazenly defies them
To imply that Gandhi wanted the Hindu minorities of Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan to migrate to India, or that a CAA enabling such a migration fulfils Gandhi’s wishes, is to turn history on its head. Gandhi wanted India too to protect its minorities.”
