Opposition Involved in Negative Publicity without any Agenda to Contest Elections – U T Khader

Mangaluru: “The date has been scheduled for the forthcoming assembly elections and the opposition is busy spreading false rumours about the Congress party. In the last 4 years and 10 months, the State government led by CM Siddaramaiah has implemented all the schemes for the welfare of the people of the state. Now when the election is nearing the opposition is involved in spreading false rumours about me. This election is Negative Publicity vs development. The opposition is spreading rumours that I was gheraoed by people in an assault case in Ullal which is far from the truth. I request the media not to publish news without verifying the truth,” said Minister U T Khader in a press meet held at Hotel Woodlands here on April 15.

Addressing the mediapersons U T Khader said, “Ullal is a constituency having Mosques, temples, Holy shrines, churches and beaches, it is also a tourist area. The opposition now is trying to turn it into another UP. But the people of Ullal will not allow that to happen. In my tenure, I have done my best to develop the Ullal Constituency by providing grants for the development of Temples, Churches and Mosques. I have worked for the people without discrimination of caste, creed and religion. I am not bothered if anyone writes against me. People of my constituency are aware of my work and I have their blessings. I have done my work with integrity and transparency. We need to contest the elections with love and unity and not with enmity. I am contesting to win the elections”.

U T Khader further said, “The gang rape and brutal murder of 8-year-old Asifa in Kathua is a shameful act which has put all the Indians to shame. The brutal murder of Asifa is condemnable. The POCSO act should be made tougher so that the accused in such cases should be given a minimum punishment of Life imprisonment or maximum punishment of Death penalty. Justice should be given to the victim within 3 months through fast-track courts. Amit Shah is talking about the crime rate in Karnataka but Maharastra and Uttar Pradesh are in number one and two positions. Why is he not talking about the Crime rate in Maharastra and Uttar Pradesh?”.

U T Khader also clarified that in Ullal there was an attack on Abdul Gafoor. I had visited the victim in the hospital and met his family members. I had also informed the police to take action against the accused. When I was coming out from the hospital, well-wishers of Abdul Gafoor met me to inquire about Gafoor’s well-being. But some media to mislead the people has published that I was gheraoed by the people which is far from the truth. I request the media to clarify such news before publishing.”
