Oscar Fernandes inaugurates New Bishop’s ordination Coordinating office at Rosario
Mangaluru: The new Bishop’s Ordination Coordinating office was inaugurated at Rosario Cathedral here on August 26.
The office was inaugurated by Rajya Sabha member Oscar Fernandes by cutting the ribbon.
Out going Bishop of Mangaluru Diocese Dr Aloysius D’Souza blessed the office premises.
Addressing the gathering Oscar Fernandes said, “The outgoing Bishop Dr Aloysius D’Souza served the Mangaluru Diocese for 22 years. I would like to thank him for taking an active part in the preparation for the ordination of newly elected Bishop. Mangaluru diocese is popular in India and in Rome, as Mangaluru Diocese has given the highest number of Bishops and priests. The Mangaluru diocese has various organizations and Churches that strive hard to prepare the nuns and priests. Our nuns and priests are working in Africa, Rome and Europe. During Bishop Dr Aloysius’s tenure, Mangaluru diocese has developed in the field of education. The elected Bishop Peter Paul Saldanha will take charge on September 15 and all the organizations have come forward to join hands for the preparation of the ordination ceremony. Our support is to the Mangaluru diocese at this juncture”.
Bishop Dr Aloysius D’Souza speaking on the occasion said, “I would like to thank Oscar Fernandes and his wife Blossom for gracing the occasion. On September 15, the ordination of the newly elected Bishop will be held. People from various districts will attend the programme. We all need to make this programme a successful one. The Pope has appointed Dr Peter Paul Saldanha as the new Bishop of Mangaluru Diocese. I urge all the people to join hands to make this spiritual programme a successful one.”
Advocate M P Noronha delivered the vote of thanks. Secretary of the Parish pastoral Committee Elizebeth Roche compered the programme.
