Udupi: Rajya Sabha MP Oscar Fernandes along with Vinay Kumar Sorake, Minister for Urban Development and Minister in-charge District laid the foundation stone for the widening and development of Katpadi to Shirva road here on April 15.
Vinay Kumar Sorake speaking on the occasion said that widening and development of Katpadi to Shirva road is estimated at Rs 7 crore and an additional grant of Rs 1.5 crore is reserved. The tender is awarded to Uday Shetty Muniyal and work will be initiated soon. The project will include paver finish road and underground drainage system.
The grant of Rs 15 crore has been released for developing Athradi-Shirva-Bajpe (Airport) road. The roads are being effectively developed and constructed under PMGSY, CRF fund, Namma Grama, Namma Raste. Oscar Fernandes during his tenure as Surface Minister had allocated Rs 1200 crore under CRF, he added.
Oscar Fernandes lauded the efforts of Vinay Kumar Sorake on initiating better connectivity by developing roads.
Prior to the programme Oscar Fernandes laid the foundation stone for widening and development of Kurkal-Pajaka-Belle road costing Rs 2 crore.
MLC Pratap Chandra Shetty, Kurkal ZP member Geethanjali Suvarna, Katpadi Gram Panchayat president Juliet Veera D’Souza, TP member Nagesh, Prabahvi Shetty, Shirva ZP member Wilson Rodrigues and others were present.
