Padubelle Suicide takes new twist, Shanker Acharya pledged Artificial gold in Bank
Udupi: The suicide of a family in Padubelle near Shirva has taken a new twist, Shanker Acharya has allegedly committed suicide along with his family members in fear of facing a probe for pledging artificial jewellery in the Innaje Co-operative Bank for a loan of Rupees 54 lakh.
The family which was facing financial crisis had borrowed a loan from the Innaje Co-operative Bank by pledging artificial jewellery. Sources said that the bank was going to approach the police to register a complaint in this regard.
It is learnt that the marriage of Shanker Acharya’s daughter was fixed and in fear of humiliation, he has committed suicide along with his family members. Police are investigating the case.
A resident of Padubelle, proprietor of Shriya Jewellery Shanker Acharya (50) his wife Nirmala Acharya (43) and his daughters Shruthi Acharya (24) and Shriya Acharya (22) had committed suicide by mixing cyanide in rice in the morning on July 13, 2017.
