Padubidri Police Apprehend Notorious Inter-District Bike Thieves
Udupi: In a significant breakthrough, the Padubidri police have arrested two individuals involved in a series of inter-district bike thefts. The suspects, identified as Mohammad Ruhaan of Sulebailu, Shimoga, and Tajuddin P.K., also known as Taju, from Shimoga, were taken into custody following an investigation into the theft of a Bullet bike belonging to a local resident, Parikshit, from Munduru village. The incident occurred on January 21, during which the bike was stolen from its parking spot in Padubidri.
The arrested individuals, both aged 28, have been identified as residents of NR Pura in Chikkamagaluru district and Ashoknagar in Shimoga district, respectively. The police disclosed that approximately 4 lakh rupees worth of property has been recovered from the suspects, including the stolen Bullet bike and a Maruti Ritz car allegedly used in the commission of the crime.
Following their arrest, Ruhaan and Tajuddin were presented before the Udupi court, where they were remanded to judicial custody for a period of fifteen days.
Authorities revealed that Tajuddin has an extensive criminal record, with multiple cases registered against him across several police stations in Shimoga district, including incidents of theft, robbery, and vehicle-related crimes. Specifically, he faces allegations ranging from student abduction to house theft, with outstanding warrants issued against him in various jurisdictions, including Kote, Vinobanagar, Tunganagar, and Doddapete police stations, as well as in Sagar urban and rural police stations. Additionally, he is implicated in robbery and theft cases in Hassan district and Dharwad city.
The apprehension of these individuals marks a decisive step in enhancing public safety and curbing the rise of vehicle theft in the region. Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the full extent of their criminal activities, with an emphasis on preventing future incidents.
