Palimar Math performs ‘Baale Muhurta’ Minister Madhwaraj Inaugurates card swiping machine

Udupi: ‘Baale Muhurta’ which is the first of the preliminaries before the next Paryaya festival was performed at the Palimar Math here on Sunday, December 4.
Shri Vidyadeesha Teertha Swamiji of Palimar Math will be ascending the Paryaya Peeta for the second time, at the 800-year-old Sri Krishna Math and Temple, established by Sri Madhwacharya, the exponent of Dwaita philosophy, on January 18, 2018.
Baale Muhurta is the first among the four important muhurtas to be performed prior to the Paryaya festival.
It is a tradition to perform the four muhurtas which are; Baale (banana) Muhurta, Akki (rice) Muhurta, Kattige (firewood) and Bhatta (paddy) Muhurta, a year prior to the Paryaya. On December 4, Shri Vidyadeesha Teertha Swamiji of Palimar Math in the presence of various political leaders, scholars and devotees performed the Baale Muhurta by planting the banana plants.
Prior to the Navagraha Puja in the Palimar math, Pujas were held in Sri Chandramoulishwara, Sri Ananteshwara at Rathabeedi and Sri Krishna Math. Later in a procession, banana plants, Tulasi plants and sugarcane plants were brought through Rathabeedi to the land belonging to Palimar Math where the Muhurta was performed.
After the religious rituals a stage function was held. As a call for a cashless transaction by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Palimar Math has introduced a digital card swiping machine for the devotees. Pramod Madhwaraj district minister in-charge inaugurated the digital card swiping machine by swiping his card. Pramod swiped Rs 10,000 on the occasion and assured all support for the upcoming Paryaya.
Former minister and Kaup MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake, former MLA Raghupathi Bhat, U R Sabhapathi, Vedavyasa Tantri, Indrali Jayakar Shetty, Sukumar Shetty, Yashpal Suvarna and others were present.
