Palimar Swamiji ascends ‘Paryaya Peetha’ with Reverence, Pomp and Pageantry

Udupi: The Ceremony of ascending the Sacred “Paryaya Sarvajna Peetha” by Palimar Math Sri Vidyadeesha Theertha Swamiji was held on January 18. After the vibrant Paryaya procession, Palimar Swamiji proceeded to the Kanakana Kindi and had a ‘Darshan’ of Lord Krishna from there. He then went to the Sri Chandramouleshwara and Sri Ananteshwara Temples where he had a ‘Darshan’ of the deities and offered prayers.
Palimar Swamiji was received by the outgoing Pejawar Swamiji who was waiting at the Temple entrance after performing ‘Visarjana Puja,’ the last prayer he offered to the presiding deity as the Paryaya Swamiji. Soon, the incoming Swamiji had a glimpse of the presiding deity Lord Sri Krishna through the ‘Navagraha Kindi’ inside the Sanctorum and prayed for the success of his two-year term.
The Paryaya Darbar programme was held at the Rajangana. The President of the Paryaya Mahotsava Samithi, Dr Veerendra Heggade welcomed the gathering. District Minister in-charge and also State Youth, Sports and fisheries minister Pramod Madhwaraj was welcomed with floral greetings.
All the seers then proceeded to Badagumalige where they assembled for the formal durbar ceremony.
In his speech, the new Paryaya seer said he was immensely blessed to take over from veteran Swamiji Vishwesha Theertha. He said it was an incredible feat by the Pejawar seer to have performed five Paryayas.
Vishwesha Theertha lamented that people these days were dissociating themselves from God. He said he would accept the title ‘Yatikulachatrapati,’ due to the affection showered on him by fellow seers and devotees. He said the practice of meditation and detachment from world pleasures were the need of the hour.
Magsaysay award-winning water scientist Rajendra Singh and High Court judge Justice E S Dinesh Kumar were felicitated on the occasion.
