Mangalore: Christians at Our Lady of Miracles Church in Mangalore commemorated Palm Sunday on April 13, marking the commencement of Holy Week. The solemn occasion celebrated Jesus Christ’s victorious entry into Jerusalem, an event that preceded his subsequent arrest and crucifixion.
The day’s observances began with a procession led by Rev. Fr. Michael Santhumayer, followed by the Holy Eucharist. The procession, symbolic of Christ’s arrival in Jerusalem, saw congregants carrying palm fronds, a traditional representation of the branches spread before Jesus upon his entry.
The Holy Eucharist was concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Bonaventure Nazareth, Rev. Fr. Uday Fernandes, and Rev. Fr. Gerald Pinto, alongside Fr. Santhumayer. The service focused on the significance of Christ’s sacrifice and the anticipation of his resurrection, which are central tenets of the Christian faith.
