‘Panchamada Inchara-Viveka Smruthi’ Music Fest at SRM

“Panchamada Inchara – Viveka Smruthi”, an Annual Music Festival as a tribute to Swami Vivekananda will be held at Sri Ramakrishna Math-Mangaluru on Sunday, 16 October 2016 from 6:30 am to 7:30 pm.

Mangaluru: Addressing the media persons during a press meet held at Mangalore Press Club, Tejeswi Shankar Jr, the President of Chiranthana Charitable Trust (R), a Home for the Aged and Disabled at Surathkal said, ““Panchamada Inchara – Viveka Smruthi”, an Annual Music Festival was started in the year 2012. This day-long National level Music Festival (biennial) has been attracting Music Lovers from all over DK and nearby districts. Sri Ramakrishna Math,Mangaluru and the “Panchamada Inchara Team” of the Trust have been organizing this Music Festival as a tribute to the Cultural Icon of India – Swami Vivekananda.”

He further said, “With a view to raise interest towards Hindustani Classical Music and to provide further insight into various Gharanas, various exponents of Hindustani Classical Music from around the country will perform “Samay Sangeet Yatra” from early morning (6:30 am) until late evening (7:30 pm) in the pleasant environment of Sri Ramakrishna Ashram at Mangaladevi, Mangaluru. Previously, icons of the world of music including Pt. Indudhar Nirodi, Pt. Venkatesh Kumar, Dr. Pt. Ashwini Bhide Deshpande, Pt. Bhuwanesh Komkali, the pride of our districts – Ustad Rafiq Khan, Pt. Ravikiran Manipal and many more, had presented their compositions in this festival and have enthralled the audience.”

Also speaking during the meet, Dr Harsharaj- Orthopaedic at Fr Muller Hospital, and also an active member of the Trust said, ” This year, Panchamada Inchara, will be held on 16th October, 6:30 am to 7:30pm at Sri Ramakrishna Math. The artistes this year include – Vocal Concerts by Pt. Ganapathi Bhat Hasanagi, Pt. Vinayak Torvi Bengaluru and Pt. Shubhada Paradkar Mumbai, Tabla Solo by Pt Yogesh Samsi Mumbai, Sarangi by Guruprasad Hegde Dharwad, Bansuri Recital by Samir Rao Mumbai and Sarod by Pt. Tejendra Narayan Majumdar. The accompanying artistes include: Vyasmurti Katti on the Harmonium, Dr. Udayaraj Karpur Bengaluru, Gurumurthi Vaidya and Bharavi Deraje on the Tabla. Senior Violinist, Vocalist and Guru – Pt. Narayan Pandit will be honoured with “Sangeet Sanman 2016” during this event”.

Swami Jitakamanandaji, President, Ramakrishna Math, Mangaluru who also spoke during the press meet has extended a warm invitation to music lovers of Mangaluru to come and witness this unique musical treat. Bharavi Deraje- Managing Trustee of the Trust was also present on the dais.
