Parashurama Theme Park case: Police seized parts of Idol from Scuptor’s Bengaluru Godown
Udupi: The Karkala police, who were investigating the Parashurama Theme Park case, have seized parts of the idol from a godown in Bengaluru.
The police conducted a spot inspection and seized the idol parts from a godown belonging to sculptor Krishna Nayak in Mudenahalli, Annappoorneshwari Nagar police station limits. The police team, led by Karkala Circle Inspector Manjappa DR, conducted the spot inspection.
Meanwhile, sculptor Krishna Nayak in a Facebook video alleged that the police had forcibly taken away the idol parts without serving a notice. Congress leader Udaykumar Muniyalu was also present during the spot inspection. Nayak alleged that the police had mentally tortured him and did not videograph the seizure process.
In response, Udupi District Police Chief Dr Arun K clarified that the police had followed the law and served a notice before conducting the spot inspection.
The High Court had not imposed any restrictions on seizing items related to the idol. The seized idol parts are being kept in police custody in Karkala.”
As a routine procedure in all cases, the complainant was informed that materials were being seized and he or his representative may be present to sign in the spot inspection along with the Witnesses.
It is clarified that a notice was issued to the accused and the seizure and spot inspection was done. To our understanding, there is no direction from the Hon’ble High Court to restrain the Police from seizing the material. The next date of hearing in the Hon’ble High Court is on 20 August 24.
The seizure procedure is video recorded. The local PS inspector (Annapoorneshwari Nagar PS) also has a body-worn camera. We will verify all the video footage and see if there are any merits on the claims raised by the accused, said SP Arun K.
