Parents should allow children to select their Career – Dinesh Ameen Mattu
Udupi: “Parents should allow children to select the course and career of their liking and should force them to join other courses”, said Dinesh Ameen Mattu media advisor to the Chief Minister of Karnataka.
He was speaking after participating in the release of the book Chakya Baba children stories written by Journalist Balakrishna Shibarla at the Lions Bhavan Brahmagiri, Udupi on June 7.
From the past until now, parents are playing a major role in the selection of courses and the career of children. Parents not only suggest but also force children to pursue the courses they desire which the children unwillingly join. In the present advanced world situation children are well informed and have the knowledge of choosing what is good for them, hence they show enough interest what is best for them to shape their career. Parents of growing kids need to give special attention to their children. Parents should spend some quality time with their kids which will help in guiding them in the right path, he added.
Today many of the children are hooked to the television, mobile phone or computers and enjoy their favourite shows or play games rather than involving in extracurricular activities, going outdoors with their friends etc.
Sabitha Gundmi, Associate Professor, Sociology Department Mangaluru University, Paul D’Souza Progressive farmer, Balakrishna Shibarla Journalist, Praveen Kodavoor, Shubha Kaipunajalu and others were present.
