Parking Fee Rip Off at Mangalore International Airport by Anajaney Enterprises, which manages the Parking system- Rs 55 instead of Rs 20 charged for 23 Mins Parking-Airport Director takes quick ACTION! A statement by the Airport Director released in August 2019 stated that for the first 30 minutes, the fee would be Rs 30 for coaches/buses/ trucks, Rs 20 for other 4-wheeler vehicles, and Rs 10 for two-wheelers. Parking Fee for 30 minutes to two hours would be Rs 70 for buses/coaches, Rs 60 for utility vehicles/mini buses, Rs 55 for cars and Rs 15 for two-wheelers.
Mangaluru : In August of 2019, Mangalore International Airport had begun implementing the new parking management system in line with Airport Authority of India’s new parking policy. A statement released by the Airport Director in August 2019 said that for the first 30 minutes, the fee would be Rs 30 for coaches/buses/ trucks, Rs 20 for other vehicles and Rs 10 for two-wheelers. Parking Fee for 30 minutes to 2 hours would be Rs 70 for buses/coaches, Rs 60 for utility vehicles/mini buses, Rs 55 for cars and Rs 15 for two-wheelers.
Here is the parking fee receipt sent to MCC Civic Group, and was later forwarded to Yours Truly of Team Mangalorean, and on basis of the receipt Team Mangalorean contacted the Airport Director’s ( Vasamsetti Venkateswara Rao) office and explained the issue to his secretary, who in reply assured Team Mangalorean that the necessary steps would be taken withing 15 minutes. And action was taken by the Airport Director V V Rao in less than 15 minutes, after Team Mangalorean contacted his office- and the action taken by him was-
“UPON INVESTIGATION, THE PARKING CONTRACTOR ( of ANAJANEY ENTERPRISES) HAS BEEN ISSUED A PENALTY NOTICE AND DIRECTED HIM TO SUSPEND THE STAFF ON DUTY ON THE DAY OF THE VIOLATION DONE BY THE STAFF”
As per the citizen who was charged Rs 55 instead of Rs 20 brought this issue to the social media and Team Mangalorean went ahead in finding the exact problem- according to the parking fee ticket, the person entered into the airport parking lot at 17.36:27 ( 5. 36 pm) on 20 October 2019, and exited out of the parking lot at 17.59 hrs ( 5.59 pm)- and that is 23 minutes of parking time taken. So as per the August 2019 revised fee, parking fee from 0-30 mins is Rs 20 for 4-wheelers/SUV, including cars. But this person was charged Rs 55, which falls in the category of parking fee for 30 mins- 2 hours.
Glad this person brought this issue to the public awareness, and this incident should bring an awareness among people to always check your receipts before leaving the Airport parking lot- and for that matter, even check your receipts when you also go shopping at grocery stores, because they too rip off their customers big time in the pricing. Team Mangalorean extends heartfelt thanks to the Airport director- Vasamsetti Venkateswara Rao for his action, and to his secretary for following up on this issue after Team Mangalorean contacted their office.
