Party Workers to remain Neutral if Muniyalu Uday Shetty Denied Ticket
Udupi: A section of the Congress workers from Karkala Assembly constituency are demanding social worker and contractor who is also the vice president of the District Congress Muniyalu Uday Kumar Shetty as their candidate against the present BJP MLA Sunil Kumar.
Speaking at a press meet held at the Press Club on Wednesday, April 4, Congress worker of Karkala, Daniel Ranjer said that Uday Kumar Shetty is considered to be a potential candidate against the BJP Candidate Sunil Kumar in Karkala. Uday Kumar Shetty has been working since many years for the development of the Congress party. The party workers in Karkala have appealed to the party observers to field Shetty as their candidate for Karkala well in advance. Harsha Moily has already decided that he will not contest the elections this time from Karkala. Harsha has decided to work for the victory of the Congress party in Karkala. We want to see the present BJP MLA Sunil Kumar defeated in Karkala by fielding Uday Kumar Shetty.
The Assembly elections are announced and there are just a few weeks left for the elections. The Congress party in the Karkala constituency is not very strong. Not much work was done by the party leaders to strengthen the party. After Harsha Moily’s decision not to contest the elections in Karkala, the party observers G A Bava and Bharath Mundodi have stopped visiting Karkala. During their visit to Karkala earlier and during the party meetings they were not listening to the party workers or showing any interest in their suggestions.
In the last one year, Muniyalu Uday Kumar Shetty has been working honestly to strengthen the party. The party workers are ready to work if the High command fields Uday Kumar Shetty as their candidate for Karkala. Uday Kumar Shetty is a good leader, a youth Icon and has respect for all religions. The Congress party’s “Mane Manege Congress” has reached each and every house in Karkala today only because of Uday Kumar Shetty. He has visited every house in the Karkala Constituency taking the development work of the Congress government in last 5 years. If the party fields Uday Kumar Shetty the Congress will surely win the elections this time.
We are all trying to bring back the Congress rule in Karkala constituency and the Congress Party High command should pay heed to the demands of the party workers. We have conveyed our views to the state leaders of the party. We are optimistic about a positive response. If the party high command rejects the party workers demands, we will remain neutral in the coming elections, he warned.
