Udupi: To mark the Datta Mala Abhiyan and Datta Jayanthi which will be held in Chikkamagaluru, activists of Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad wore the Datta Mala at the Udupi Shri Krishna Math, here on December 4.
The Abhiyan was flagged off by Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Paryaya Pejawar Math by distributing the Datta Malas to the BD and VHP activists.
VHP leader Prof M B Puranik urged the government that Hindu priests should be appointed at the Peeta. Datta Paduke should be kept at the Peeta and Puja should be offered to it on a daily basis. We will continue with our demand for declaring the place as belonging to the Hindus and for offering prayers thrice a day. Now, the matter is before the State government. It should respect the sentiments of the majority Hindus.
