Udupi: The most controversial ‘Kanaka Nade’ began from the Kanaka Gopura, near Krishna Math here on October 23.

The Kanaka Nade was inaugurated by Sri Vishvesha Tirtha Swamiji of Pejawar Math by garlanding the statue of Kanaka Dasa.

Addressing the gathering Pejawar Swamiji said, “The district administration imposed a ban in some areas, through which we had thought of taking a procession. I am hurt by this act of the administration. We will not go against the law during the Kanaka Nade. We will only clean the surrounding and parking area of Krishna Math. We need to clean ourselves internally first, instead of cleaning outside”, Swamiji said.

Speaking on the occasion Mentor of Yuva Brigade Chakravarty Sulibele said, “We will not take the law into our hands. We are cleaning the Krishna Math with our faith and not to insult the Dalits. The district administration has imposed a ban on some areas of the city which is not fair. We will clean the Sri Krishna Math parking area and its surroundings. We will also have lunch with the Dalits in the afternoon”, he said.
