People can buy Essentials Everyday from 7 am to 12 noon – Kota Srinivas Poojary
Mangaluru: “Today we had given them permission to open the shops to buy essentials but we found that people failed to maintain social distance. Keeping this in mind the district administration has decided to keep the shops open from April 1, from 7am to 12 noon so that people can buy essentials every day”, said the district minister in-charge Kota Srinivas Poojary on March 31.
In a video release, Kota Srinivas Poojary said, “I would like to thank the people of Dakshina Kannada for co-operating with the district administration during the total lockdown for three days in the district. Due to the request of the people today on March 31, we opened the shops to buy essentials from 6 am to 3 pm but people failed to maintain social distance. Keeping the health of the people in mind, the district administration has decided to keep the shops open from 7 am to 12 noon. Please do not panic, all will get the essential supplies.”
Srinivas Poojary further said, “For people to maintain social distance, entry to the central market and Suratkal market has been banned. From tomorrow both the markets will be closed. The wholesale dealers in Central Market are allowed to operate from 11 pm to 4 am only, they should finish all their work within the given time. To maintain social distance everyone should stand in queue and the vendors should collect the list from the customers and deliver the essential items to their doorsteps. We have taken all the necessary measures to prevent the Coronavirus from spreading further. I urge everyone to co-operate with the district administration in our fight against COVID-19”.
I wonder what are essentials. We have become slaves to these “essential” commodities. India will always be in a flux . I think it’s high time to be self reliant and live with what nature provided us than be a slave to these “essential” brands . Even people in the UK are eating leftover food dumped in garbage by Hotels and restaurants.
