Some People Trying to Twist History of Secular Ruler Tipu Sultan – Vinay Kumar Sorake

Udupi: Remembering our Freedom Fighters who fought for the country is government’s responsibility, on this basis, the state government is celebrating the Tipu Jayanti said Kaup MLA and former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake.
He was speaking after inaugurating the District-level Tipu Jayanti organised at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Auditorium Manipal here on Friday, November 10.
Three years before when the government started to celebrate Tipu Jayanti, there was no confusion but today some people are creating confusion. The assembly elections are nearing so the opposition parties are opposing the programme.
Tipu Sultan was a secular ruler who treated people of all religions equally. A section of the society is conspiring to eliminate Tipu Sultan from the history books by projecting him to have been anti-Hindu. He has helped many Temples for their renovation. Some people are trying to twist history to give a wrong picture of a secular ruler like Tipu Sultan who was saint-like and a great warrior, he added.
Meenakshi Madhava Bannanje president Udupi CMC presided over the function. Deputy commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis, SP Dr Sanjeev M Patil, ZP CEO Shivananda Kapasi, ADC Anuradha and others were present.
