PAGE – People’s Association for Geriatric Empowerment Gearing Up for ” World Alzheimer’s Month ” in Whole of September
Mangaluru: During a meeting held by PAGE with its members, plans were made and discussed about “World Alzheimer’s Month” to be organized during the whole month of forthcoming September. “We must remember and serve those who cannot Remember” said Dr. Olinda Pereira, the 93-year “YOUNG” President of PAGE -People’s Association for Geriatric Empowerment: an Organization of around 40 Organizations.
Dr.Prabha Adhikari, Vice President of PAGE, introduced the various Organizations and their Office Bearers. “The coming together of so many organizations to serve our Elders Cause is in itself a Great Victory and we shall use this Positive Energy to Make a Difference to the Quality of Life of our Elders” said Er. Jerardin’Souza, Founder, MAA Mangalore Alzheimer’s Association and Trustee of PAGE. ” Prevention of Risk Factors, Care & Cure” is the Mantra for observing World Alzheimer’s Month, said Dr.Prabha Adhikari. Each Organization must take up each activity and visit various institution’s to share the Awareness & Prevention Message, she indicated.
Sunil Kumar of FORUM Mall volunteered to give financial support to PAGE, generated from The “PURPLE RUN” for Alzheimer’s Cause on September 30th. He also offered the premises at Forum Mall for the various activities of Alzheimer’s Month. Ms.Loretta Pinto, M.D.Susheg Trust, who are building a hospital for Alzheimer’s Dementia sufferers, volunteered to print Dementia Awareness Leaflets to circulate in public.
Each Organization must try to bring a reference for a Sponsor to meet the expenses and fund the Activities ” suggested Mohanraj, MD, Bright HR Solutions and Trustee of PAGE. The Meeting was full of Positive Energy, all Elders and Youngsters also had a fun-filled group photo. There will be Awareness & Prevention, Memory Test Clinics, Movies on Dementia, Involvement of all parts of Society from Students to Eminent Citizens. PAGE appeals to Everyone to be a part of This ” World Alzheimer’s Month ” and this is What Makes Mangaluru, Truly a SMART City ” said Er. JerardinD’Souza.
