Personal allegations symbolise collapse of values, says CM Kumaraswamy
Balehonnur: Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy came down heavily on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for terming opposition parties as “Sharabi party.”
The personal allegations during the election campaign are the signs of the collapse of values in politics, he added.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, he said, “The speech by political leaders during the campaigning is projected in a derogatory manner through WhatsApp and other social media, which also highlights the interests of the today’s younger generation.”
“I had asked ‘Ellidiyappa Nikhil’, during the release of the cassette of my son’s movie. However, many engaged in propagating ‘Ellidiyappa Nikhil’ in a low tone. Our family has been living with people. We have been fighting for the welfare of the people. We have not come to politics to make money,” he said.
“As a chief minister, I had released Rs 1,500 crore for development works in North Karnataka districts. About Rs 400 crore has been given for drinking water projects. Nearly Rs 500 crore was released for irrigation projects in Bidar. However, many have been propagating the release of funds in negative light,” he added.
‘Lack of knowledge’
Kumaraswamy said, “Independent candidate from Mandya Sumalatha does not have knowledge on loan waiver of the state government. An amount of Rs 6,500 crore has been released for loan waiver. The loan waiver scheme of the state government has benefited 15.58 lakh farmers. A sum of Rs 350 crore has been released to Chikkamagaluru under the scheme. I have announced loan waiver amid stiff opposition by the officials. Am I against farmers?” he asked.
